Warrensburg Community Kitchen & Food Processing
Warrensburg, NY
About This Project
A licensed, shared commercial kitchen enables home-based food entrepreneurs to scale up. Residents can make value-added products (jams, sauces, baked goods) that meet health codes and sell at farmers markets or online. The kitchen will also support bulk food processing for community food businesses, canning workshops, and meal prep for community events. This builds food sovereignty and economic opportunity.
Why It Matters
Home kitchens can't legally produce food for sale. Renting commercial kitchens is expensive, blocking food entrepreneurs from scaling. A shared kitchen removes barriers to economic opportunity, builds local food economy, supports small business creation, and strengthens food sovereignty.
Expected Impact
- 20+ food entrepreneurs launching home-based businesses
- $50,000+ in new annual income from food-based enterprises

- Sustainable livelihoods and economic empowerment for residents
