About This Project
The Warrensburg Community Garden Network aims to establish 5 neighborhood community gardens across town to increase access to fresh, local produce. This initiative builds food sovereignty by empowering residents to grow their own food, reduces food system dependency, and creates gathering spaces for community building. We'll partner with local schools to offer youth programs that teach gardening, nutrition, and environmental stewardship. Each garden will be managed by volunteer gardeners and neighborhood coordinators.
Why It Matters
Food insecurity and limited access to fresh produce affect many Warrensburg families. Outdoor space and community gathering places are critical to neighborhood resilience. By creating community gardens, we build local food systems, reduce health disparities, strengthen community bonds, and provide outdoor education opportunities for youth.
